Mark Sheridan, O.S.B.: (= Order of St. Benedict) is a Benedictine monk,
Born in Washington, D.C., USA, received the following academic degrees:
Georgetown University: A.B. (Philosophy) 1960, Catholic University of America: S.T.L. 1966, Pontifical Biblical Institute: S.S.L. 1971, Catholic University of America: Ph.D. 1990
(Coptic Language and Literature).
He moved to Rome in 1982, where he served as prior of the Collegio S. Anselmo, dean of the Faculty of Theology and Rector Magnificus of the Pontifical Athenaeum of St. Anselm.
Since 2004 he has been a member of “ the International Joint Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.”
He first visited the Holy Land in 1971. In 2010 he moved to the Holy Land and now lives in Bethlehem. Since 2016 he is also an Italian citizen.
